Purse for my Secret Pal

I made this for my secret pal in the last round of Crochet List’s Secret Pal Exchange. I made a pouch purse by chaining the desired length, and then doing hdc in each loop on one side, with three in each end, and hdc along the opposite side. I then built up spiral style till I had the depth I desired. The star is from a pattern I found online. I also lined the purse with cotton.

Tina’s Purse

I made this for Tina for Crochet List’s handbag exchange. I copied the pattern of a purse that Robynn send me from the same exchange, because I really liked the ribbing. Essentially, I made a long rectangle of DC stitches and folded it to make the purse body. I did rounds of SC stitches around the top, chaining loops to make the handles, and doing more SC until I felt the handles were sturdy enough. I love how it turned out!

Purse for Donnie

I made this purse for Donnie, for the handbag exchange on Crochet List. I am really pleased out it turned out! It is a super easy pattern; just make a large rectangle, fold in half, and crochet the edges together. Crochet around the top attaching the handles as you go, add a fancy button, and you’re set!

Fun Fur – Not!

K, so I’m a laggart at this Fun Fur stuff. So I decided to make a purse for my Secret Crochet Pal in her favorite color, and edge it in fun fur, just to try it out. It does look fun, huh? The purse is okay… I made the body a shell pattern and lined it with this cool purple and black paisley pattern, which went along quite nicely, but I definitely have to say that fun fur is, um, Un Fun Fur. I had no problem finding the stitches and keeping the actual cord on the hook, but I found that the junk had a tendency to tangle in itself, making it hard to pull up loops. And let’s not talk about the whole ‘weaving in ends’ business.

Oh, and see that glob of fun fur down on the purse’s corner? That was my attempt to make a flower. Fun fur apparently doesn’t care if you sc, dc, hdc, or trc, it all looks like one gianormous, tangled lump.

will I give up on fun fur? probably not. it does *look* fun. but i’ll probably couple it with thread or yarn next time. Lila needs a hat. a fun hat…
